Wrong fuel in car? Well, that will cost an insanely high price. Some wrong fuel experts charge £5,000 or more to sort out the problems. According to the researchers, most of the so-called wrong fuel removal works charge the motorists with unnecessary expenses and in most of the cases, things could have been done in a much simpler way.

An estimated figure of more than 150000 motorists is putting wrong fuel in car every year. And if total repairing bill is considered, the motorists have to bear £50million for repairing purpose. Sometimes, repairing is not possible to get the car back in the fittest condition and replacement is deemed important. In that case, expenses shoot up.

Repairing charge varies drastically from one car breakdown service center to another. A Skoda Octavia owner has to pay £110 to get his car tank emptied, with charge of full flush out and a new filter installation included.

However, the cost will jump up to more than £1,000 for fuel recovery as well as payment for fuel pump and lines in case of a BMW 320d car. Cases of wrong fuel fill-up are very common and that have prompted several agencies to focus only on recovery of contaminated fuel. Most of the wrong fuel incidents involve installation of petrol in diesel car as nozzles of the diesel pump are too big to fit the opening of a petrol tank.

In new-age diesel powered cars, fuel has more usages than being a propellant only. It also serves as a lubricant for the metal components in the car. Unleaded petrol is powerful enough to strip the diesel lubricants off the metallic components, thereby causing them to grind with each other.

Most drivers are fortunate that they realize the mistake before driving the car away and it results into no or little damage.
